First I thought while reading your comment (very breifly) that it would be the fiftey-eleventh crappy Metroid sprite movie, then I was wrong. The graphics was very good, although Claire (part of Robotnik's machines from Sonic Advence 3 I think) look kinda missplaces and big. It was kinda funny that you addes sound effects for the movement and added a kinda 'cartoonish' style to it, also the idea to limit the actual sprite-animation movement to a minimum was a smart move. The only things I dislike is the Metal Slug-explosion, it looks so misplaced it just gets ugly, and the use of the 'Back to Mad' by Texas Fagott, ever since Andrew Dickman used it first in Rockman NEO it's been spreading the portal like an disease, try to either use some of the audio from the Audio Portal or get some Metroid remixes from OCRemix.org instead.
thanks for taking the time to write a good review! About the music, i had actually started making this movie along time ago, and i too noticed the growing use of the song but didnt take the time to change it, it just seemed like to much effort ;)
Thanks for the kind review :D
Another prime example of Disaster Labs talent...
I've always liked your movies Misteroo, crazy and hilarious, but they all have an second layer of meaning underneath the weirdness. You’re like the flash community’s Michael Moore or Andy Rooney (well... kind of, something). Your work has always had a double moral, make crap to prevent crap. It's true how horrible the sprite flashes on Newgrounds tend to be, the number is limitless. You made of the idiocy in the beginning of 'Arfenhouse: teh movie too', I guess that wasn't enough for you, eh? You brilliantly wrap together idiocy, good AND bad graphics, stolen ideas (as sarcasm), music, animation… and most important of all, HUMOUR. The never-ending trail of humour, jokes, puns... etc.
I must just say that this is, and will continue to be, one of my favourite flash movies along with your other ones. I'm not mad because this isn't 'Arfenhouse: teh movie tree', actually I'm glad that you made something new... well new-ish. You Misteroo (and all you other less important contributors of Disaster Labs) are a fine example how an astounding flasher(*laughter*) should be.
Good, but can WAY better
Okay you are like the number one animator when it comes to Megaman sprite flashes....well, like the only one that actually makes something decent.
Anyway, it's very good but I know you can better. Here are some things that I know you can fix without some mayor changes to your flashing:
1.When making flashy titles (Hunter Zero title or your logo) make it on a black background instead of just cutting just the text, it looks rather stupid else.
2.Use the same type sprites good dammit. You can't first have a Megaman 7 Rush jetsuit and then a Power Battles Megaman. Yes I know they have poses that is needed for showing some emotions. But it tends to look ugly. Make your own sprites or make a request on Bob and George or some other forums if you can't sprite. The 32 bit Zero homever is granted. The Zero resistance members looks VERY misplaced in this flash, they look small and are way diffrent in looks.
And NEVER EVER NO QUESTION use the Bass.exe sprites, they may look cool but they look horrible with the other. Use his Treble boost or his normal 32-bit sprites instead of that horrific thing. Let it me strange that he changes from that to the other, but nobody likes the exe sprites togehter with the others I can assure you.
3. Don't stretch backgrounds, that MM7 intro nackground look stupid when stretched.
Anyway, hope the next one comes soon.
1-is not even a black background...it's a transapernt background..when exporting the movie it's the way the image comes out...so u cant blame me for that one..
2-this is not like Mario Bros where you can find all the sprites of all the characters in 8 bit, 16 bit etc...i pick sprites that i believe look like they are from the same game...i am not too fond of custom sprites..it'll never look like an original one....i do the best i cant and I KNOW is not the best sometimes...about Bass like i said before i am trying to add some twists to a story most Megaman fans know already...it makes it harder cuz i gotta make it interesting for them..the reason why i didnt use the treble boost or his 32 bit version was mainly cuz i have used them twice before(this is a follow up to another of my series)
3-Again i try to work with what i have...that MM7 background was partially edited by me..even the color so it would fit my settings...watch both episodes and u'll see that i edited all the backgrounds in one way or the other to keep them fresh and different instead of the usual background just ripped from the game..
thanx for the review..i take it into consideration but i hope you realize i do the best i can with the stuff i find
It was a good test of effects and animation, but it tended to get to long, it was boring just seeing him charging up and nothing happening. You should've made it shorter or some variation when he charged. Anyway, it's okay...
A warning example with humor
This is probarly how it's gonna end with constant crappy follow up and not doing anything to the game itself. Wonder how EA games are in the future *shrugs*. Anyway this is hilarious, hope you'll do a sequel sometime.
